Package Description: 75+ Tests

Serving Size: ..

Number of Servings: ..

Included in the Kit:

  • Copper Reagent 2
  • Copper Reference

Technical Specifications:
  • Range: 0-0.80mg/L
  • Precision: 0.025mg/L & 0.0025mg/L
  • 75 tests
Instructions
  1. Fill sample pipette to base of bulb and dispense to a test cavity of the test plate. Repeat, adding to same cavity.
  2. Add 2 drops of Copper Reagent 2.
  3. Insert the dry Stir rod into the Copper Reagent 1 container to coat the rod with a very light dusting of Copper Reagent 1. Gently tap the rod against the side of the container to shake off excess Copper Reagent 1. Dip Stir rod with Copper Reagent 1 in test cavity and stir briefly.
  4. Compare color with color chart when the blue color peaks in intensity (which may be as long as four minutes after stirring). If testing chelated copper, read after 15 to 25 minutes. (Cupramine is not chelated.)
  5. Promptly dispose of completed test solutions by rinsing test cavity under running water. If the test plate becomes stained, soak or clean with a dilute bleach cleaner, then rinse well.

Reference test: The proper performance of this kit may be validated by running a test in the normal manner except that the reference sample is used in place of aquarium sample. It is not necessary to run a reference test to use this kit. The only time you might choose to run a reference test is if you have cause to believe the test is giving incorrect results. If you run a test using the reference sample and obtain the correct result (based on the known reference value provided) then you know the test is giving correct results. To run a reference test use the Copper Reference as the sample in a copper test. Reference value is 0.5 mg/L. Use 3 drops of Copper Reagent 2 in Step 2 when testing reference.
Hints: If concentration exceeds 0.8 mg/L, you may wish to make a 1:1 dilution with distilled water and retest (multiply dilution result by 2).
Interpretation: Natural sea water contains about 0.003 mg/L copper. In reef or other marine aquaria, copper should be undetectable. In freshwater, copper is less critical, but should be less than 0.05 mg/L. Copper pipes can be a source of copper in soft water areas.
Aquarium use only! Keep away from children.
